A Randomized Controlled Trial of Early Discharge for Inguinal Hernia and Varicose Veins: Some Problems of Methodology

Abstract
A randomized controlled trial which examined various effects of early discharge following surgery for varicose veins and inguinal hernia was performed for a period of just over two years. The study was concerned with clinical, psychological, social, and economic aspects of 48-hour discharge and the effect on the medical care services. An attempt is made to discuss the methodology employed and problems that have ensued.
