Abstract
It was found that the illumination of a ferroelectric-semiconductor changed the domain structure of the crystal. This effect, which we shall call the photodomain effect, was observed and investigated for SbSJ. A simple model is proposed to explain the effect. Applying this model has revealed some additional insight into the properties of the surface layers of a ferroelectric. A study of the photodomain effect enables the investigation of the influence of the screening effects on the equilibrium domain structure. Keywords
