Abstract
This study demonstrates how analysis of new British Census data (the Samples of Anonymised Records) may enhance other data sets for transport and planning purposes. The study uses logistic regression with categorical and dichotomous socio-economic independent variables to investigate access to cars amongst the elderly population in Sheffield. The method can be applied to any UK metropolitan or county area. The conclusions have implications for policies on sustainable transport and social integration. Keywords
