Abstract
To the Editor: Perhaps a bit more on the background of the word "hormone" might be interesting to your readers (see editorial in the Journal of November 21, 1968, and Dr. Grossman's letter in the Journal of December 26, 1968). The derivation of "hormone" may seem a small point but the point becomes somewhat larger in view of the word's key role in a major area of modern medicine and physiology.Dr. Grossman seems quite correct in attributing "hormone" to W.
