Tests of F-independence with reference to quasi-independence and Waite's fingerprint data

Abstract
Tests of hypotheses relating to F-independence of bounded-sum variables are constructed by the likelihood ratio method using the theory of log linear models. These are exemplified using Waite's data on fingerprint types. Then F-independence is compared with quasi-independence for fingerprints and for bounded-sum variables in general.
