Abstract
A quantum-mechanical calculation of transverse magnetoresistance is made for an electron gas with anisotropic effective mass. For acoustic-phonon scattering, numerical calculations are made with parameters appropriate to the conduction band of in the temperature range 30-77 °K with magnetic fields up to 200 kG. For high magnetic fields there is a quantitative disagreement between theory and experiment which is not understood at present.
