Abstract
Of 40 children tested, 23 had a diagnosis of schizophrenia. Of these 23 there were 15 boys and eight girls from 75 to 132 months of age. Pure tone averages and speech reception thresholds were obtained on all. There was no significant difference between schizophrenic and normal children in pure tone thresholds. Speech reception thresholds, however, obtained in the free field by playing a pre-recorded tape of spondee words were significantly higher in the schizophrenic group than in the normal group. Keywords
