Abstract
Samples of pig blood, 545 during the experimental period and 336 at slaughter, were analyzed for ochratoxin A (OA) by a TLC procedure. The level of OA increased 2-3 wk after OA contaminated feed was introduced. The concentrations in the blood was approximately half of the concentration in the feed. The disappearance rate is shown on graphs. The half-life was calculated to 6 days. The correlations between OA in serum, kidney, lean, liver and fat are approximately 0.8. OA in organs and carcass were calculated from the OA in the blood samples taken at slaughter after 24 h on toxin free diet. More than 25 .mu.g OA/kg kidney was found in 85% of the pigs when the blood level exceeded 300 .mu.g OA/l serum. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
