Synthesis of 2,9-dimethylditriaxane (2,9-dimethylheptacyclo-[6.4.0.02,4.03,7.05,12.06,10.09,11]dodecane)

Abstract
A dimethyl derivative of [6]-ditriaxane, a new polycyclic saturated[CH]2n hydrocarbon, has been synthesized from a pentacyclic cage compound, derived from 2,6-dimethylphenol, by acid-catalysed rearrangement, the Bamford–Stevens reaction, and subsequent transformations.
