Abstract
Seventeen children with massive myoclonic seizures and minor motor seizures in infancy and childhood have been treated with a chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride (Librium) analogue, LA-I. A 60-100% reduction in number and severity of seizures occurred in 15 cases in trials from 2 to 30 months. Benefit was seen in both the infantile spasms and seizures accompanying them and also in seizures in later childhood in those patients who had had infantile spasms in infancy. The drug was relatively ineffective in 29 adults and children with other seizure disorders. No serious side effects were seen.
