Abstract
Amino acid composition of S19 thyroglobulin of 8 species (7 mammals and 1 bird) has been determined. A statistical study of the results shows significant variations of all amino acids except valine, leuclne and cystine. Beef, horse and hog thyroglobulins have a very similar, if not identical, amino acid composition. The remarkable constancy of the valine, leucine and cystine contents as well as the sum of the amino acids with hydophobic side chain, suggests a great similarity of the secondary and tertiary structures of the studied thyroglobulins. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
