Abstract
A man with resistant Li-induced nephrogenic diabetes insipidus and affective psychosis was successfully treated with carbamazepine. Carbamazepine may be appropriate for concurrently treating Li-induced renal dysfunction and manic-depression in patients whose prognosis may be jeopardized by Li discontinuation. [The antidiuretic effect of carbamazepine is attributed to the induction of increased renal sensitivity to antidiuretic hormone (ADH), although central ADH release is also implicated.].This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
