Abstract
Home care is currently one of the most rapidly growing fields in health care, yet it is a subject that the majority of physicians know little about. The purposes of this discussion are, first, to explore the reasons for the general isolation of the medical profession from home care; second, to explain why physicians must acquaint themselves with home care as a system of services to supplement the care they provide to patients in their offices and in institutions; and, third, to demonstrate why medical input is needed to protect patients from becoming pawns of market forces and fiscal policy . . .Keywords
