Abstract
Isolated target pips with a background of random noise were presented for a single sweep rotation on a cumulated radar display. They appeared 6 times more often in one quadrant of the display than in the others. During a 90-minute watch, observers sensitivity to the low-probability targets declined but did not for the high-probability targets. The same effect was obtained with steady film displays of the radar scope which were presented to different observers under equivalent conditions. Keywords
