Abstract
In this article I describe how traditional Tswana healers perceive AIDS and classify it as either a “Tswana disease” or a “modern disease.” I also discuss the consequences that these categorizations may have for preventing the spread of HIV, as well as the possible role that healers can play in this important effort. Keywords
