Abstract
Both the polar and azimuthal dependence of the near-edge x-ray-absorption fine structure at the oxygen K edge have been measured. The spectra are well reproduced by cluster calculations with convincing evidence for a reconstruction of the surface, although it is not possible to distinguish between the two most likely models. To identify the nature of the observed resonances comparison with photoemission and inverse-photoemission data from the same system is made. Keywords
