Abstract
When species in natural habitats compete for resources, the complex interactions may lead to outcomes ranging from coexistence by resource partitioning to extinction of one of the species. An example is given demonstrating how competition for food enables one species of terrestrial salamander to constrict the distribution of another species. Keywords
