A Group Counseling and Educational Program for Students with Usher's Syndrome

Abstract
Describes a group counseling and educational program for teenagers with Usher's Syndrome that was developed at the Model Secondary School for the Deaf in Washington, D.C. The philosophical dilemma of whether to explain the full ramifications of the condition to young people is described. The structure of the program and the successes and failures of the actual group sessions are discussed, and guidelines are offered for those who wish to develop similar programs for students with Usher's Syndrome.
