Abstract
The growth behavior of barium titanate crystals from molten potassium fluoride at 1000°C may be described in some detail by the Frank growth mechanism. In particular the role of reentrant twin angles as growth step sources was examined. A finite supersaturation is required for the operation of this source and the event must occur by an easier nucleation process than homogeneous two‐dimensional nucleation. Keywords
