Abstract
Chorionic villus sampling, which can be performed between the ninth and 11th weeks of gestation, provides fetal tissue for direct chromosomal and biochemical studies. Ongoing trials suggest that it will soon assume an important place in prenatal diagnosis by providing a much needed safe and accurate first-trimester approach to fetal genetic diagnosis. Keywords
