Ultrasonographic Antenatal Detection of Obstructed Bladder

Abstract
Between 1979 and 1981 the antenatal diagnosis of bladder obstruction was made by maternal ultrasonography in 4 cases: 2 were prune belly syndromes, one of which was aborted. The 2 others were female infants; 1 was a case of megacystic-microcolon-hypoperistalsis syndrome. The possibility of antenatal diagnosis of bladder obstruction led to the use of intrauterine bladder taps to relieve bladder pressure.
