Abstract
1. The uptake and translocation of P32-labeled phorate and inorganic P32 (H3P32O4) by cotton seedlings were studied. 2. The amount of phorate absorbed was found to be dependent on the volume of radicle or hypocotyl exposed. The phorate remaining at the exposure site also was dependent on the volume exposed. 3. The most active site of P32 uptake was from 20 to 40 mm. above the radicle tip. 4. P32 moved downward from the exposure site more than phorate, but phorate was translocated upward to the cotyledons much more readily than P32.Keywords
