Abstract
The stimulated emission cross section σ for the 1065 μm 4F3/2 -> 4I11/2 transition in Nd3+: CaWO4 has been measured by a method previously used by Edwards in 1968 for Nd: glass. The cross section is defined in a way which takes account of the splitting of the 4F3/2 level and the measured value of σ is 40 × 10−19 cm2.Keywords
