Abstract
Using a double-diffusion in agar method, the quantitative values of immunoglobulins IgG, IgA and IgM in 200 normal infants and children ranging in age from 2 mo. -15 yrs. is presented. The IgG values rise from a mean of 33% of the standard reference serum in the 2 -6 mo. age group to achieve adult levels by about 2 yrs. of age. IgA values gradually rise throughout childhood from a mean of 10% of the standard reference serum in the youngest age groups. IgM levels rise more rapidly from a mean of 99% of the standard reference serum in the youngest age group to reach adult values in the 7-12 mo. age group. Wide individual variations in IgA and IgM levels were noted for all age groups accounting for the wide range in normal values. Keywords
