Abstract
A dose‐response curve for oral codeine phosphate was established in 12 adult male patients with chronic cough. The response measured was the per cent reduction in cough counts following 4 doses of codeine as compared to placebo. The curve of response on the log of the dose used was found to be linear, and a single oral dose of 15 to 20 mg. of codeine seemed to be optimum under the conditions of this study. No correlation between the objective cough counts and the patient's subiective evaluation of the drugs was established. Keywords
