Abstract
Electroless deposition of α‐PbO2 films by oxidation of lead (II) acetate with peroxydisulfate is described. Investigations into the mechanism of this reaction show it to be a mixed electrolytic process with the two partial reactions and . The variation of mixed potential and growth rate with the pH of the electrolyte is studied and interpreted in terms of the pH dependence of both partial reactions. A mechanism of the reduction of is proposed.
