Abstract
Lateral deviation of the trachea at the thoracic inlet may occur normally in infants and children up to 5 years of age and should not be a cause for concern. The displacement is nearly always to the side opposite the aortic arch which probably is the major although not the only cause. Other possible contributing factors are discussed. Keywords
