Abstract
The possibility of jamming in various types of weft knitted structures is examined. Results for jamming in plain- knitted fabrics are based on a theoretical analysis of the plain structure which has been published previously by the present authors. Also, consideration of the equilibrium force systems in 1 X 1 rib and other related fabric types, such as interlock, leads to conclusions concerning width jamming of these structures. This tends to confirm the validity of models of these structures in which such jamming is assumed to occur. Keywords
