The Magnitude of the Cancer Problem

Abstract
The annual number of persons diagnosed with cancer in the United States, is expected to increase from 530,000 in 1953 to 753,000 in 1975. Roughly 50,000,000 people alive in 1950 can expect to develop cancer during their remaining lifetimes; one-third of newborn children are expected to develop cancer during their lives.
