Abstract
THE consumption of alcohol by young people in Aus tralia is of increasing public health concern. This paper, which draws on recent studies, discusses the prevalence of teenage drinking within its social con text, and some of the problems associated with excessive alcohol consumption. It concludes with a summary of the major prevention efforts and suggests a much closer co-ordination of preventive strategies.Keywords
