Abstract
Two hundred and sixty-two isolates of Agrobacterium. (Smith & Towns.) Conn. from nursery soil were characterised by biochemical tests. Biotypes 1 and 2 of Keane et al. (1970; Australian Journal of Biological Science 23: 585-95) were represented. In addition a third group comprising 37 isolates was obtained. Isolates from this group shared characteristics of both biotype 1 and biotype 2 Agrobacterium and were designated biotype 1-2. Both biotype 1 and biotype 2 Agrobacterium were abundant in the rhizosphere. Keywords
