Abstract
Presents approximate solutions of the MIT bag model for quarks in cylindrical bags. For a cylindrical bag surface it is found that Dirac's equation does not admit solutions corresponding to the linear boundary condition in psi = psi . It admits, nevertheless, solutions which satisfy the original confinement condition psi psi =0 exactly. The pressure balance condition is approximately satisfied through the variational minimisation of hadronic energy. These cylindrical quark bags to give not only the string limit of the bag model but also the correct slope of the leading Regge trajectory for baryons at the low angular momenta. States on a given trajectory differ from one another in axial-momentum excitations of a single quark. Keywords
