Abstract
Reflection spectra of liquid benzene, chloroform, bromoform, carbon disulfide, and carbon tetrachloride have been studied in the infrared region. On using a method developed in this work, absolute intensities of the vibrational transitions involved have been obtained from the experimental data. The results are in reasonable agreement with intensities obtained from dispersion studies except for the case of carbon disulfide. The benzene intensity obtained is in disagreement with the value from absorption measurements on the pure liquid. Keywords
