THE GRANULOMA POUCH AS A ROUTINE ASSAY FOR ANTIPHLOGISTIC COMPOUNDS

Abstract
The authors presented modifications of the Selye granuloma pouch technique to permit the use of this technique as a routine anti-inflammatory assay. Their method presented the following advantages: simplicity, uniformity of results, quantitative appreciation of the various indices of inflammation, absence of systemic reaction, rapidity and sensitivity. Data were given on the comparative effect of cortisol and cortisol acetate when administered either systemically or locally.
