Abstract
Transient forced convection from a flat plate subjected to a step energy input to the plate is considered for established laminar boundary-layer flow. Cases considered are a plate of zero heat capacity and a plate of relatively high heat capacity. The zero heat capacity case is solved by an integral method with different velocity profile approximations. A quasistatic solution, based on the plate energy balance, is given for the high heat capacity case. Experimental measurements verify the high heat capacity analysis.
