Abstract
Reproduction in this parasite conforms generally to that described for other Spirurina but differs in several points of detail. The ovary has no central rachis and the cap cell is clearly part of the epithelium covering the ovary and is quite distinct from the anterior ovarian tissue. No central rachis was observed in the testis. The male is the heterozygotic sex, producing spermatozoa with 5 or 6 chromatin units. These units persist as separate entities in the spermatozoa and do not become enclosed in a nuclear membrane. No metamorphosis of the spermatid occurs other than a cytoplasmic reduction; there is no indication of an acrosome or any of the other structures reported to occur in nematode spermatozoa.
