A simple design for a digital programmable frequency multiplier

Abstract
A new method for implementing frequency multiplication of square waves is presented. It is simpler and more flexible than any other method. The frequency multiplication parameter n can be programmable, therefore there is no need to change hardware when the parameter n is varied. In particular. the accuracy of the output square wave can be improved easily by increasing the reference frequency, in contrast with the conventional method which is subject to practical limitations, such as the linearity of the IC elements, especially the integrator.
