Abstract
Cortisone administration combined with administration of antigen in small doses intravenously causes significant and substantial decrease in circulating complement. Cortisone alone produces a hardly discernible effect. ACTH with or without simultaneous antigen administration has no apparent depressant action on complement. Growth hormone administration with or without simultaneous immunization produces a striking rise in the complement level. Evidence is presented suggesting that this may be due to the presence of contaminating thyrotropic activity.
