Abstract
The optimal location of a facility on a given site on the basis of construction cost contour information is presented. The identification of pertinent social considerations, such as aesthetics, conservation, recreation, pollution controls, or employment opportunities, is reviewed and the weighted objective means of quantifying an expected social benefit at a number of trial locations is derived. These data are the basis for a set of contours which identify the optimal point from purely a social benefit point-of-view. A means of achieving an overall optimal solution via a coupling of economic and social considerations in a cost-benefit context is then given.
