Abstract
(Cf. preceding ) Refluxing a phenylcarbamyl peptide with HC1 splits off phenylhy-dantoin, leaving a peptide with one less amino acid residue. A more selective analytical micro-method, using phenylthiocarbamyl peptides and hydrolyzing in nitromethane saturated with HC1 is given. Leucytriglycine and alanylleucylglycine were stepwise degraded, and the amino acids that separated were detd. by means of paper chromatography.
