Depth habitats of some species of pelagic Foraminifera as indicated by oxygen isotope ratios

Abstract
Pelagic spp. are intolerant of temp. and water density changes, but may live at different depths to obtain optima in these factors. No pelagic populations were found living below 220 m. All spp. examined lived at same depth throughout their lives, except Orbulina universa, which occupies progressively shallower water while growing.
