Abstract
The epidemiology of the 1933 outbreaks in St. Louis, Missouri, and elsewhere serves to differentiate encephalitis from poliomyelitis, although a few similarities can be cited. The difference in incidence of the 2 diseases in the older age groups is especially significant. Water and milk seem to have played no part in the transmission of encephalitis. Its geographical distribution and seasonal incidence suggest an insect vector, although the manner of spread of early cases is more characteristic of human transmission. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
