HYPERGENITALISM IN A MONGOLIAN IDIOT

Abstract
A mongolian idiot (13 yrs.) with miliary tuberculosis whose brother was also tuberculous and a mongol, exhibited evidence of hypergenitalism. This is rare as is evidenced from a study of the literature. In the mongolian [male] the genital development is infantile and often rudimentary. The manifestation of excess genital development is especially interesting in view of recent studies indicating that mongolian idiocy may be due to a basophilic deficiency. The latter is consistent with the usual picture of hypogenitalism that mongols exhibit.
