Abstract
To the Editor: In the January 24 issue, Valenta and co-workers1 reported on a case of short stature with normal levels of both growth hormone and somatomedin C, in which a structural abnormality of the circulating growth hormone was detected. We report here on a case of growth retardation with high growth hormone and low somatomedin C levels, in which a similar abnormality was found in association with hypothalamic hypothyroidism, corticotropin deficiency, and hyperprolactinemia.The patient, a six-year old boy, was seen because of growth retardation and hypoglycemic episodes.
