Abstract
The behavior of a wind-sea is investigated for wave directions differing from the local wind direction. To describe the phenomenon we added the mean wave direction as an additional prognostic quantity to the JONSWAP parameters used in mathematical models of the wind-sea in previous publications (Hasselmann et al., 1976; Günther et al., 1979a,b). A boundary is given for the frequency domain in which the spectral energy responds to a veering wind field.
