Abstract
Pion-deuteron elastic scattering is calculated via the impulse approximation (including double scattering) at intermediate energies. Good agreement is found with experiment at 87-, 142-, and 180- incident pion energy. Thus the impulse approximation seems to give reliable results even in the region of a large resonance.
