Abstract
Observations on the zoöspore phase of an Achlya lacking sexual reproduction and therefore of an undetermined species were carried on under optimum conditions. When the zoöspores are kept in cool, redistilled, well-aerated water, five successive swarmings of the secondary, laterally biflaggelate zoöspore have been observed to occur. Such a number of emergences is two more than has ever been reported in any species of the Saprolegniaceae. The exact mechanism bringing about this repeated emergence is still in doubt, although it seems to involve both environmental and hereditary factors.
