Abstract
Three-, 7-, 9-, 14-, 18-, and 20-day hens'' eggs were injected with epinephrine (0.1 cc. of 1:1000 sol.). The cholesterol content was less in eggs injected on the 3rd and 20th days than in controls and was from 10.7 to 24.7% greater on the 7th, 14th and 18th days than in controls. Eggs injected with ephedrine (0.004 gm. of 4% sol.) on the 3d, 7th, 14th, 18th and 20th days showed an increase in cholesterol over controls in the 7-, 14- and 18-day egg; no difference in the 3-day eggs and a slight decrease in the 20-day eggs. Nine-day eggs injected with 0.0001 gm. epinephrine or 0.004 gm. ephedrine and examined 2 hrs. after injection did not differ in cholesterol content from uninjected eggs.
