Abstract
Death occurred in all of nineteen rats placed on an otherwise adequate diet containing toxic wheat. The first six deaths occurred with no decline in hemoglobin and the last thirteen deaths occurred with hemoglobin levels ranging from 2.0 to 10.8 gm. per 100 cc. of blood. The falls in hemoglobin extended over periods ranging from 14 to 34 days. The anemia observed was not due to inanition. Keywords
