Induction florale sur pousses d'août chez le Douglas (Pseudotsugamenziesii)

Abstract
Numerous and perfectly well developed seed cones appeared on lammas shoots of young Douglas-fir. In 1973, among 73 flowering grafted trees 6 years old, 76% of seed cones (i.e. 380) were associated with lammas shoots. In 1976, among 171 flowering seedling trees 8 years old, 83% of the seed cones (i.e. 762) were concerned with this phenomenon. A very dry period, interrupted by a few very rainy days, might be responsible for this. The theoretical incidence of this observation and its practical interest for manipulation on flowering induction are discussed.
